How you present yourself says a lot about you. Its nonverbal communication telling the world who you are. And weather you believe it or not we live in a visually oriented world, and people think what they see is what they get. Especially when it comes to the business world. It contributes to making a good first impression.
I want you to think about this, when the boss or client sees you, you want him thinking that you are a person who has it together. That you take pride in how you look and make an effort to do so.
Putting in a little effort in what you wear makes you look more confident and professional, and that might give you an edge over any competition that might have comparable experience. Think about a time when you may have been shopping around to hire a service or someone. If you had two people with the exact same background and service, and they also offered similar prices. What would be a deciding factor for you? Would it not come down to their personality and how they portrayed or represented themselves? Would you not think…well who would I rather work with and have representing me?
A well put together individual demands respect. It shows not only that you respect yourself and are deserving of respect, but that you also respect the company.
