I love this question…the answer is no it is still not a rule. In fact if you walk into a department store right now you will see several trend statements with white. Let me try and put this in prospective. This “rule” came into effect sometime in the late 1800’s. Labor Day became an official holiday in 1894. Talk about a dated rule. And it was put into place by snobby society women of that time in order to tell who was acceptable and who wasn’t, the women who were already “in” felt it necessary to create dozens of fashion rules that everyone in the know had to follow. One of the most famous women to break that rule is Coco Channel. Fashion rules are meant to be broken. But it’s all about how you do it. If you want to wear your white jeans in the fall, maybe pair it back to Black or Navy instead of a pastel color. Also try a winter white it’s not quite ivory and it’s not a stark white. It’s lovely in the fall especially paired back to some silver or gold for a holiday party.
